Lee Lai-shan became Hong Kong's first Gold Medal Winner in Windsurfing by winning the women's Mistral class title at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Lee Lai-shan has become a role model for young women in Hong Kong and an icon for the sport of windsurfing. In august 2001 she captured her third world title at the World Windsurfing Championship in Greece. Lee Lai-shan won her first world title in Japan in 1993 and her second in Australia in 1997. She also won gold at the Busan Asian Games in 2002.
