AMATEUR THEATRE

THE MEETING PLACE
Amateur theater groups from all over the world will meet in western Jutland October 7 - 15, 2005, for a week-long amateur theater festival to focus on the life and universe of Hans Christian Andersen.

The festival, which will take place under the name THE MEETING PLACE 2005, is being arranged by Landsforeningen for Dramatisk Virksomhed, DATS (Dansk Amatør Teater Samvirke) [The Danish Amateur Theatre Association], and is being supported by Hans Christian Andersen 2005 as a part of the international celebration of the writer's 200th birthday.

THE MEETING PLACE 2005 will reflect Hans Christian Andersen's global significance by putting together a series of high-quality amateur theater productions from around the world. 12 international and 2 Danish theater groups are being invited to participate in the festival, which - in addition to the theatrical performances - will be built around workshops, lectures and an international symposium.

During the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to experience creative interpretations of Hans Christian Andersen's life and fairytales by international theater groups at affordable prices.
