HCA NEWS The web designer of the HCA2005 portal wins Internet prize

Some of the world's leaders in the field of digital and multimedia design have just selected the Danish web designer In2media as winner of the Scandinavian Web Challenge. In2media has, among others, HCA2005 on its customer list and designed this portal.

With stiff competition from many of Scandinavia's leading web designers, the Danish firm In2media was selected the winner of the Scandinavian Web Challenge 2003 for the website in2media.dk.

In2media won for its ability to combine digital design with multimedia narrative techniques and to exploit them for communication and branding in ways that always consider the user. Thus, maximum visibility is achieved in relation to an often ephemeral user, who does not give a particular website much time.
One example of this, among others, may be seen here on the HCA2005 portal, which was designed by In2media. The Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation wanted to create a portal environment that was information-oriented and, thus, primarily text-based. Moreover, it was to speak to the whole world, while at the same time giving expression to the cool, clean Scandinavian style - and, on top of that, to put one more twist on it:

The portal was to be magical - with a direct relationship to the magic of Hans Christian Andersen, but without traditional resorts to the writer's universe such as, for example, a top hat, a cane, his profile, paper cutouts, etc. New means were to be brought to bear.

It is no secret that HCA2005 has been very pleased with the portal, since it was launched in January 2003. It is to In2media's credit that, with their usual enthusiasm, artistic creativity and ability to take the ball and run with it, they have delivered a wholly unique product - one that has become the desired mirror of the overall HCA2005 project, plus a solid platform upon which to build in connection with the challenges the project faces in the coming years.

"Without doubt, HCA2005 is one of the greatest digital journeys we have begun here at In2media, and the best thing about it is that it is not over. In fact, I am becoming ever more convinced that, once you've touched Hans Christian Andersen, you automatically wind up coming back to him in one way or another for the rest of your life. Of course, this is a challenge we are really looking forward to at In2media," says creative director, Søren Kjær.

Tough judges
The judges for the Scandinavian Web Challenge were, respectively, Billy Bussey, 2advanced Studios and Visualdesigner, all of whom are among the world's most respected digital designers and developers of multimedia content.

"It's always nice to win prizes, but when your abilities are recognized by some of the frontrunners in the field of multimedia and web design, that, of course, is another feather in your cap. It gives you confidence that, in spite of it all, you have a solid understanding of digital communication and that the agency has a good blend of abilities," says Søren Kjær.

He adds that the winning site has completely integrated In2media's own content management system "Content|Agent 4.0" and, thus, In2media is shattering the myth that the use of content management systems means goodbye to creative design and multimedia tools.

In2media has been in existence since 1994 and, in addition to the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation, its customer list includes STIMOROL, Nokia, Safri Duo, Isabell Kristensen, Atea and the Bella Center on its customer list, among others.
