The University of Southern Denmark will be the scene for three days of ironic smiles, when an international symposium is held April 15-17 under the title "Hans Christian Andersen Takes On Literary Theory."

The event will take place in Kolding and will be conducted in English. Over the course of three days, Hans Christian Andersen's use of irony and types in his stories, as well as connections to various genres of fairy tales, will be examined, writes the daily newspaper Politiken.

The symposium is being organized by Assistant Professor Per Krogh Hansen, Ph.D., and is a part of the preliminary festivities to mark the jubilee year for Hans Christian Andersen in 2005.
