A total of 18 volumes are lined up for publication through 2006 - three volumes at a time, with the first three volumes on the market this coming fall under the title "Eventyr og historier 1-3" ("Fairytales and Stories 1-3").

Next spring, it will be the novels' turn and, in the following autumn, the poems along with an assortment of diverse writings. In 2005 itself, first the dramas and then the travel books will appear, before the 18 volumes are rounded off with the author's autobiographical writings.

The publishing house Gyldendal and Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab (The Danish Language and Literature Society) has taken on the task of publishing Hans Christian Andersen's collected works in honor of the worldwide celebration of his 200th birthday in 2005.
