HERE & NOW Tina Turner at HCA show in Parken

The living legend behind immortal hits such as "Private Dancer", "What's love Got to do with it" and "Simply the Best" will appear in Denmark for the first time since 2000 to pay tribute to Hans Christian Andersen.

In 2000, Tina Turner gave a powerful and memorable performance at PARKEN, the national Danish soccer stadium, during her world tour. Many Danish fans probably thought this would be their last chance to experience Tina Turner in concert in Denmark. But now she's back! The Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation and the Danish national broadcasting corporation, DR, are immensely proud to announce that one of the greatest female rock icons of all time will pay tribute to Hans Christian Andersen on his 200th anniversary, 2 April. Tine Turner will appear on stage at PARKEN as part of the spectacular fairytale show ONCE UPON A TIME, where she will perform two of her everlasting classics "What's love Got to do with it" and "Simply the Best".

Tina Turner states:
- I'm very honoured to return to Denmark after my last performance in PARKEN five years ago to take part in the world-wide celebration of Hans Christian Andersen. He is, so to speak, "simply the best" and one of the great storytellers ever, and I'm looking so much forward to join a crowd of close to 40.000 for his birthday party in PARKEN.

- It is no secret that of all the international performers on our wish list, Tina Turner was our top choice. We are immensely proud that Tina Turner will grace our grand opening gala and pay tribute to our very own Andersen.

With a music career that spans more than 40 years, Tina Turner is one of the most successful female rock performers of all time having sold more than 50 million albums. She was born in Tennessee in 1939 and christened Annie Mae Bullock. Up though the 1950s, 60s and 70s, Tina Turner enjoyed success with her former husband Ike Turner in the band Ike and Tina Turner Revue featuring hits such as "River Deep, Mountain High" and "Proud Mary". In the mid-1970s she went solo, professionally and privately, and enjoyed a comeback in the 1980s with numerous hit albums. Her biggest hit album was "Private Dancer" from 1984 featuring hit tracks such as "What's Love Got to Do With it?". The album sold more than 10 million copies worldwide earning her three Grammys. She also experienced stellar success with the album "Simply the Best" from 1991. The title song has been a highlight of her career ever since. Tina Turner has also appeared on the silver screen in movies such as "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" from 1985 when she enjoyed great success with the soundtrack "We Don't Need Another Hero". She also recorded the 007 soundtrack "Golden Eyes". Tina Turner has received numerous awards and been top of the charts the world over countless times.

"Once Upon A Time" will be televised live to the Danish home audience on DR1 and to the wide world. The 120-minute show relates the life and work of Hans Christian Andersen in music, dance and film. For the occasion, PARKEN will be transformed into an enchanting fairytale universe where a number of newly produced short films will relate the story of Andersen's life. Each fairytale will be conveyed in dance and music. Audiences at home and at the stadium will experience Connie Nielsen as hostess, the pop star Daniel Bedingfield from New Zealand, Olivia Newton-John, Morten Harket from A-HA in duet with the rising New Zealand star Hayley Westenra, Jean Michel Jarre, the world-famous American opera singer Renee Flemming, Safri Duo, the Italian quick-change artist Ennio Marchetto, Sir Roger Moore, Harry Belafonte and Isabel Allende. The cast of 600 performers including a children's choir of 350 boys and girls, 28 ballet children from the Royal Danish Ballet, the Chinese acrobatics troupe, the Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe, and a large ensemble of dancers and singers.
