Partnership with Brazilian samba school discontinued

The Board of Directors of the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation has at a meeting today decided to discontinue cooperation with the Brazilian samba school Imperatriz Leopoldinense, which involved a Hans Christian Andersen theme parade at next year's Rio de Janeiro carnival.



South Korean Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors appointed

At a ceremony Wednesday at the City Hall in Seoul, the Danish Ambassador to South Korea, Leif Donde, appointed two South Korean Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors. The South Korean Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary projects were also presented at the event.

The Latvian Hans Christian Andersen activities

The Danish-Latvian Hans Christian Andersen activities scheduled in Latvia are taking shape. They were launched last Saturday with a major event in the capital Riga. Here the Daile Theatre staged a musical based on Andersen?s fairytale Thumbelina, which in part was performed by children. The invited audience of 130 included representatives of the Danish and Latvian cultural and business environment.



Three days of Andersen celebration

Royals to preside German HCA2005 presentation

Sydney hunts for its Hans Christian Andersen statue

Fifty years ago, a bronze statue of Hans Christian Andersen was erected in Philip Park in Sydney, Australia, to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous storyteller. Yet ten years later the bust was removed as part of a refurbishment plan for the park and ever since the Danish community in Sydney has tried to trace its whereabouts.
