HCA NEWS "Peach Blossom" voted among the favourites

The Chinese film based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale "Under the Willow Tree" was awarded an honourable fourth place in the People's Choice competition at the NatFilm Festival in Denmark. In all, 82 films were eligible.

The critically acclaimed movie "Peach Blossom" is currently a box office hit in its country of origin, China, where it is screened in major cities. The film will later be released on DVD and featured by the Chinese TV broadcaster CCTV on their movie channel. The NatFilm Festival marked the international premiere of the movie, which will also be featured at other international film festivals.

"Peach Blossom" is the story of the young lovers, Lu Xi and Xing Zi, who both yearn for their unattainable love following separation during the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

The production of the movie as well as the Hans Christian Andersen series featured at the NatFilm Festival is sponsored by the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation.

This year's winner of the People's Choice Award worth DKK 125,000, which is presented in association with the Danish Film Institute, went to the Iranian film "Turtles Can Fly".
