With an exhibition of Spanish publications of Hans Christian Andersen as well as Andersen-related display boards and brochures at the Nordic book stand, the Royal Danish Embassy brings renewed attention to the Andersen bicentenary following the appointment of the First Lady of Chile, Mrs. Luisa Durán, author Isabel Allende and soccer star Ivan Zamorano as Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors.

The Chilean Minister of Culture and the Chairperson for the Chilean Chamber of Book Publishers both emphasised the aspect of the official Andersen bicentenary committed to encouraging Chileans to read more books.

The Chilean Minister of Culture emphasised the good relations with the Royal Danish Embassy and mentioned several of the scheduled activities:

"Next year, many projects will be launched here in Chile: a book that establishes dialogue between Hans Christian Andersen and Pablo Neruda; a competition at public elementary schools dealing with Andersen illustrations, and a concert performance, to mention a few."
