HCA NEWS Royals to preside German HCA2005 presentation

HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will preside over the presentation of the 2005 Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary in Germany.

The German contribution to the worldwide celebration of the 2005 Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary will be presented at a press conference at Berlin City Hall on Monday 8 November 2004 at 11 am.

HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Crown Princess Mary will preside over the presentation of the German Hans Christian Andersen events. The press conference will be hosted by the Danish Ambassador to Germany in association with the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation.

Following the presentation, HRH Crown Prince Frederik will appoint six prominent German personalities as Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors. The German Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors will be singer and actress Nina Hagen, former President of the Federal Association of German Industries Hans-Olaf Henkel, TV hostess Sandra Maischberger, ballet choreographer John Neumeier, actress Katja Riemann and dancer and choreograph Sasha Waltz.

They will all contribute to the wider awareness and appreciation of Hans Christian Andersen in Germany and internationally. The Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors will furthermore represent the humanitarian foundation, the HCA-abc Foundation, which addresses illiteracy worldwide in the name of Hans Christian Andersen.

The Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, will be present at the press conference and so will the Danish Minister of Culture, Brian Mikkelsen.
