Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II presided over the inauguration of the Hans Christian Andersen House in Odense last Friday. Mayor of Odense, Anker Boye, opened the event and thanked the many parties involved in the refurbishment of the museum, which took more than two years to complete.

The Queen was the first to view the exhibition on the enchanted life of Hans Christian Andersen. Museum Director Ejnar Askgaard guided Her Majesty through the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, which features hundreds of exhibits from the life of the poet.

Her Majesty showed informed interest and added interesting anecdotes on the life of Hans Christian Andersen herself. Of special interest to Her Majesty were the techniques involved in Hans Christian Andersen's drawings and paper cuts featured at the exhibition.
