H.J. Hansen Vin is launching a Hans Christian Andersen wine in collaboration with the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation. For every bottle sold, DKK 5 will be donated to the HCA-abc Foundation and the fight against illiteracy.

The new exhibits of the Hans Christian Andersen's House in Odense are being inaugurated with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II in attendance on Friday 4 June 2004. At this event, the invited guests will be the first to be offered a glass of the new Hans Christian Andersen wine, "La Sirenetta" - The Little Mermaid.

H.J. Hansen Vin has selected this special Hans Christian Andersen wine in conjunction with the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation. The wine will be launched worldwide to mark the writer's bicentenary in 2005.

H.J. Hansen Vin is a firm based in Odense with an impressive 175 years' experience in the wine and grocery trade. In conjunction with the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation, H.J.Hansen Vin has brought the full weight of its expertise to bear in selecting just the right Hans Christian Andersen wine.

The wine selected will travel all over the world and will publicise not only Hans Christian Andersen's name but also the message of the importance of reading and writing for all. In this regard, H.J. Hansen Vin has entered into an agreement with the humanitarian HCA-abc Foundation, established in the name of Hans Christian Andersen to give children and young people all over the world the opportunity to learn to read and write.

Under the deal, H.J. Hansen Vin will donate DKK 5 for every bottle of Hans Christian Andersen wine sold to the HCA-abc Fund for its humanitarian objectives.

Increase awareness of Andersen
This arrangement is described on the wine labels as well as on flyers being distributed with the wine. Accordingly, the Hans Christian Andersen wine will not only help to accrue funds for humanitarian work but also help to increase awareness of Hans Christian Andersen and the humanitarian work being done in his name.

The wine will first be served in Hans Christian Andersen's home town, Odense, on 4 June and will then be launched worldwide. Thus, not only Danish consumers but consumers all over the world will be able to support the work of teaching children and young people all over the world to read and write through the sale of Hans Christian Andersen wine.

"H.C. Andersen Vinen 2005" is also the first product in a long list of agreements between the HCA-abc Fund and the Danish business community, all with the common goal of raising money for humanitarian work in the name of Hans Christian Andersen, thus securing the opportunity for underprivileged children and young people all over the world to learn to read and write.
