A new Spanish HCA2005 website is using the Internet to direct attention to the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen's 200th birthday. The purpose is to attract Hans Christian Andersen enthusiasts in the Spanish-speaking world to the international HCA2005 portal and to provide relevant information about the project and the writer himself.

"Like everyone else, the Spanish-speaking world has a proprietary interest in Hans Christian Andersen and we are happy to be able to share our knowledge about Andersen in this regard. The Spanish-speaking lands are a key market for the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen all over the world and, therefore, the Spanish HCA2005 site is a cornerstone in our mission to make HCA2005 into a global cultural event," says Secretary General of the HCA2005 Foundation, Lars Seeberg.

The Spanish website provides users with general information on the project itself, Hans Christian Andersen as a person, key people behind HCA2005, and tourist-related opportunities for visits to Denmark.

The site contains an extract of information from the international HCA2005 portal and, thus, does not provide dynamic content, such as news or calendar events. For this, users are referred to the international portal.

"The site has been created as a natural part of the communication strategy for HCA2005 and the plans behind our desire to connect the world with the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen in 2005. Therefore, we hope that the Spanish site will provide Spanish-speaking users with the necessary springboard for their interest in Hans Christian Andersen and our celebration of him in 2005," says communication director for HCA2005, Christian Have.
