There was a line in front of the studios of Nordisk Films in Valby this weekend, when auditions were held for the film company's upcoming feature and television film about Hans Christian Andersen.

The director, Rumle Hammerich, insisted on open auditions, despite the fact that the film project has already been through several casting sessions with professional actors.

Rumle Hammerich wanted to make sure he was not missing out on any undiscovered talent out there, resulting in the two open casting calls on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Among the young men between 17 and 28 who showed up, however, not all had prominent ears and noses.

Even applicants who resembled male models and men of different ethnic origins turned up to audition for roles in the universe of the Danish fairytale writer.

According to plans, the film will premiere in 2005 in connection with the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen's 20th birthday.
