A collection of paper cutout dresses and a single paper doll made by Hans Christian Andersen in the 1860s will be put up for auction at Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen on 1 September.

"The items are so unique for Hans Christian Andersen that nothing like them has ever been sold before. Therefore, we decided to give them a somewhat cautious appraisal value. However, I have a suspicion that the hammer will come down at a much higher price than that at which they are appraised. After all, Andersen has an international following," says Sebastian Hauge, department head at Bruun Rasmussen, to the newspaper Berlingske Tidende.

The doll and dresses have been appraised at somewhere between DKK 60,000 and 80,000 (roughly, $8,500 and $12,000).
