Glorup Manor on the island of Funen will be inviting the public to visit the privately-owned castle in 2005. This will take place as part of the commemoration of Hans Christian Andersen's 200th birthday, which is being celebrated all over the world in 2005.

The manor's owner, Alice Moltke-Huitfeldt, has promised tourists to eastern Funen that she will take the unusual step of opening the doors of the manor to the public at large.

The reason is that Hans Christian Andersen spent a great deal of time at the manor in the period between 1839 and 1869, and the room he usually stayed in remains just as it was then. It and the other apartments will be accessible to tourists and other interested persons who avail themselves of the offer of local tourist associations to experience the Funen of Hans Christian Andersen in 2005.

Among other things, there are plans to arrange a Hans Christian Andersen weekend in the area, and Glorup Manor will now be a part of it.
