The American association, the Society of Illustrators, has asked artist Dan Frøjlund from Funen to illustrate a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of his choice.

There will be 25 illustrations in all, which will be the American association's contribution to the celebration of Hans Christian Andersen in 2005.

"It is my intent to illustrate one of the lesser known fairy tales, because it could be fun for New Yorkers to discover that Hans Christian Andersen wrote something other than "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Mermaid," says Dan Frøjlund.

Last year, he became a member of the American illustrator's association, because he illustrated there a collection of lullabies, which Radio Denmark published. Since then, this type of illustration has become his primary product in a number of contexts, and Dan Frøjlund himself believes that he has found his niche with these illustrations.
