Andersen will look over Moscow Moscow authorities have decided to erect a sculpture of Hans Christian Andersen in the city. By Fie Sandfeld - H.C. Andersen 2005 - 01 November 2002 Hans Christian Andersen is one of the most popular authors in Russia and a sculpture "is to be erected in honor of the fairy-tale writer, with whom many generations of Russian children have been raised," reports the press release from the City Council's Committee for Monumental Art. The Andersen sculpture will stand in Marino Park, which is an amusement park for children. There will be a competition to decide who is to be the sculptor, and the plan is to unveil the artwork in 2005 on Hans Christian Andersen's birthday. So writes the daily newspaper Politiken.  Back |
