Thursday, April 3
9:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Film symposium "Hans Christian Andersen and Film" at Teaterhuset, Rosenhaven.
Film and Hans Christian Andersen have a lot in common.  You might say that both are great storyteller, able to capture the attention of an audience with imaginative stories. Hans Christian Andersen lived to witness the photograph - about which he was very enthusiastic, but he died twenty years before motion pictures.

On the other hand, the medium of film has since explored Hans Christian Andersen as a regular source of material: in the form of films dealing - more or less truthfully - with the writer's life and career and films based on his immortal fairy tales and stories.
The symposium, which is accompanied by almost a week of Hans Christian Andersen films, will illuminate from various angles Andersen?s significance for film culture and the significance of film upon our view of Andersen and ourselves.

Program:
9:30 a.m.:  Assoc. Prof. Peter Schepelern: Billedbog med billeder - H.C. Andersen og filmen [A Picture Book with Pictures: Hans Christian Andersen and Film]
11:00 a.m.:  Prof. Kirsten Drotner: Andersen og (ande)dammen [Andersen and the (Duck)Pond]
12.00 noon:  Lunch
