Eight international personalities appointed Ambassadors

On Sept. 26, 2002, at St. Ann's Warehouse, in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, New York, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark announced the appointment of actor Harvey Keitel, actress Susan Sarandon, jazz musician McCoy Tyner, singer Suzanne Vega, Ballet Master in Chief of the New York City Ballet Peter Martins, actor Boyd Gaines and actress Connie Nielsen as the first Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors.

On May 15, 2003 HRH Crown Prince Frederik appointed the Brazilian football icon, Pelé, as Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Ambassador at a luncheon at Copenhagen Town Hall.

The Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Ambassadors will serve as the public face of the worldwide campaign celebrating the Danish author during the 200th anniversary of his birth.
