Actress. Born 1 November 1963 in Kirchweyhe. She was trained at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover. She received the Adolf Grimme Gold Award for her debut role in Summer in Lesmona in 1988. Her breakthrough role was in the film Der bewegte Mann in 1994, and she has since appeared in several movies. In 1998, she was awarded Bundesfilm Award as Best Actress for her part in Die Apothekerin and Bandits, and in 2003 she was awarded the Best Actress Award at the Venice International Film Festival for her part in Rosenstrasse.
