Born 1953. Sinikka and her sister Tiina Nopola are Finland's most popular children's books writers and have received numerous awards for their authorship. Since 1989 they have cowritten a great many witty and humorous books, including a series of ten books entitled "Heinähattu ja Vilttitossu" (Strawhat and Filtslipper) and a series entitled "Risto Räppääjä" (Risto the Rapper). The Nopola sisters have also written several children's plays, musicals and operas and there are made films and animation films based on their books. Their books have been translated into Swedish and as from 2005 their serie of "Strawhat and Feltslipper" will be translated into Japanese.
