Born in 1927, London. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Drama, Sir Roger Moore served as a lieutenant during the Second World War. His breakthrough as an actor came in the TV series The Saint, which was followed up by a popular appearance in the TV series The Persuaders. In 1972, he took over from Sean Connery as James Bond and appeared as 007 in seven bond films. In 1999, he was decorated with a CBE, and in 2003 he was knighted for his commitment to chairty as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Sir Roger Moore's statement:
"Hans Christian Andersen created a magical world with his tales of Emperors, Kings, Princesses, birds, trains, toys, along with those of simple people and, of course, the unforgettable little match seller. Oh what a tragedy that 120 million children are denied access to a primary school education. They can and never will know the wonder of this great author, playwright and poet. It is a great honour for me to be a UNICEF Ambassador; and an equally great honour to now be a HCA Ambassador."
