Born in 1963. Peter Schmeichel's first team was Hvidovre FC. After that he came to Brøndby IF before he was transferred to  Manchester United in the English Premiership in 1991. Here he played until 1999 and won several league titles, cup-finals and one Champions League title. I 1999 he travelled to a warmer climate as he went on to play for Sporting in Lissabon in Portugal, whom he also helped through to the Portuguise league title. He finished his club career in England playing for Aston Villa and Manchester City.

He has the record for the most matches played at the Danish national side - 129 caps. His debut came in 1987 against Greece, he then went on to lead the Danish side to the triumphant win at the European Championship in 1992 before he ended his National career in 2001 in a game against Slovenia.

Schmeichel has been name "Player of the Year" on two occations in 1993 and in 1999.
Furthermore he has been named "The best goalkeeper in the world" on several occations.

Finally he figures on the top-100 list made by soccer great Pelé for FIFA in 2004.

Peter Schmeichel is now working as a expert commentator for Danish TV 3 and for BBC in England.
