Danish National Gallery

During 2005 , Exhibition (including permanent)
Denmark - Copenhagen

The exhibition at the Danish National Gallery traces the young Hans Christian Andersen?s first journey to Italy in 1833-34 where he discovered himself as a man and artist.

The exhibition features examples of the magnificent collection of Romanticist paintings (e.g. by Eckersberg and Købke) alternated with sketches and quotes by Andersen. The exhibition is based on the film Jeg så det Land, which is directed by the exhibition curator, Hans Edvard Nørregaard-Nielsen.

A book by the curator in Danish and English is to be published coinciding with the exhibition. Furthermore, readings, ballets, lectures and other events will be staged in relation to the exhibition.
