Jun Ashidas udtalelse om H.C. Andersen:
"One time when Mama was abroad I, as Papa, remember reading one of my favorite stories, "The Little Matchstick Girl", to my 7-year old and 4-year old daughters before they went to sleep.  I performed enthusiastically including as many expressive gestures as I could and, as I ended the tale and stood up in the space between the beds, "Ah!!" I had a painful stitch in my back.  I relived these memories recently when I read the same story, this time to my 10-year old granddaughter and 5-year old grandson.  In tune with our changing times, compared with my daughters, my two grandchildren seem more like tiny persons from space than innocent children. Nevertheless, tears
came brimming in their eyes as they listened to the joy and sorrow of life as narrated romantically by Andersen.  No matter how much times change, the freshness and charm of Andersen's stories will continue to shine like a brilliant jewel."
